Friday Night

What do you do on Friday nights?  Paul and I tried something new out.  A trip to the ER.  I don’t recommend it. Well, it might not be so bad if you don’t have half of your pinky falling off with blood dripping everywhere.

I am sure you are wondering what happened.  This is it. I was coming into the house from the garage and closed me pinky in the door.  I don’t know how it happened, it just did.  Then I started screaming, Paul came running, Theo looked at me very concerned.  Let me tell you how thankful I am Paul is almost an EMT.  He sat me down in the chair and went to get stuff for my finger.  Then he wrapped my finger up, took Theo to the neighbors and took me to Soda.  He drove like 90.  Then they fixed my poor pinky.  An x-ray showed that it was completely broken about where my nail grows out.  My finger nail was completely pulled out so the doctor removed it and put in our stitches and wrapped it up with a finger guard.  My finger should be healed in six weeks and the nail should grow back in 3 to 5 months.  It is nasty and hurts real bad.  You use your pinky for more than you think.  I keep telling myself how glad I am it’s not going to be a nub.

On a much happier and less painful note, we just got back from a wonderful road trip through California.  Pictures coming soon.

Roll out the Red Carpet

It was a big day in our household.  Paul and I are now members of Costco.  I know, if you aren’t a member you can only be jealous of us.  It was a huge step in our journey of adulthood, but the time comes when you have to decide if you want to be Costco or not. I don’t know if it was done in a moment of weakness.  We’ll see.  I mostly want the great prices on diapers.  So yeah, we are awesome.

And then there was an earthquake

Paul was in the bedroom and I was in the living room sitting around Sunday night when all of a sudden the house started to shake.  I ran into the bedroom to see if Paul felt the rumble.  He did. And then it happened again.  I thought our furnace was exploding or the house was settling into the crawl space.  Paul looked outside, but there was nothing there.  I was having a minor heart attack.  It turns out it was just an earthquake.  First a 4.2 and then a 3.8 with the center near Lava.  I have been in earthquakes before, but this one totally shocked me.  Who expects an earthquake in Grace?  Not me.  But we are alive and nothing was damaged.  These types of quakes happen like 100,000 times a year, according to the Idaho Statesman.  No big deal.

On a less end of the world note, my bulbs are coming up and blossoming.  It makes me incredibly happy and the smell is intoxicating.  I love spring.

What we did: March to April

In the last month we:

-Watched the snow melt!

-I went to Time Out For Women in Idaho Falls with a friend.  It was wonderful and inspiring.  And even though I like his music, Michael McLean is so 1990s; he still has a mullet.

-Spent a week in Twin Falls for Spring Break.  Jenni and her family came too.  Theo spent the whole week playing outside in the fenced yard (I have been dreaming of a fence ever since) and playing with cousins.  He figured out how to drive the four-wheeler by himself.  So proud!  There was lots of shopping, good food, sunshine and laughter.  Especially when Jenni told her almost three year old to wait and eat a piece of chocolate cake when she asked for a banana.  We even went swimming and didn’t get cold-it was at a hot springs, but still!

-Celebrated Easter in Twin.  We had an egg hunt at Great Grandma’s “Park” and discovered the fun of getting an Easter basket.

-Grandma Peggy came for a few days and we liked having her around.

-Paul went to Weiser for work for a few days.  Theo and I missed him.  I had too much time on my hands and made a bunch of crafts.

-Theo found some new places to sit.

-I found a pair of cute chairs on a Facebook yard sale page and was instantly inspired to reupholster them.  I am mostly done with one and will someday do the other.  Someday….

-We discovered Theo is a child prodigy on the guitar.  He is the next August Rush.

-And then Paul turned 31!  Which deserves a post of its own.

Happy Spring!

Spring has finally sprung!  Sort of.  It has been snowing all day.  Booo!  We have been enjoying some spring like weather the past few days.  Playing outside, walks, and soaking in the warm sun have been major priorities in our household.  Saturday was especially springy.  I went on a run in the morning and surprised myself by still being able to run after a winter off.  I wasn’t fast and I didn’t run far, but I went farther than I thought I could.  Then we went snow shoeing.  It was beautiful to be outside in the snow without freezing.  Paul carried Theo in the pack.  Theo was not impressed with being strapped in.  He fell asleep; it was so cute.  Looking forward to many more warm days!

A Style of His Own

Theodore chose his own clothes the other day.  He also chose the order to put them on.  It was so cute.  I couldn’t look at him without laughing.  Camo sweat pants and a button up shirt under a Maui t-shirt.  So stylish.

Theodore has learned how to throw things in the garbage can.  Mostly garbage is placed in there, but he has put in utensils and toys.  Yesterday he threw away an Easter decoration.  I guess it was trash.
