California

Theodore and I spent a week in California the beginning of this month.  It was wonderful and beautiful.  I went to help my sister-in-law who is pregnant.  She was having some complications and the doctors at Stanford (where she is going to have the baby) said they either have to admit her or put her in an apartment right by the hospital where she needs 24/7 watch care.  We gladly accepted the offer to help out for a week.  Theo had a ton of fun with his cousin Lily and I had a ton of fun being so close to a Target and watching Downton Abbey with Savannah.  Fortunately, Savannah was feeling pretty good so we were able to go and do something everyday.  We went to lunch, had story time at Pottery Barn, almost had a heart attack at Crate and Barrel (do not take children to that store) and played outside.

We played at a park a few times.  It was so lovely to see grass and go outside without snow boots and pants.  Theo loved the jungle gym.  He hasn’t played on them very often.  His favorite part was sticking the bark down the holes.

Have you ever seen so much excitement in one face?  Theo loved being outside.

I told Paul that we can move to California.  There are palm trees and flowers all year.  The weather was in the 50s and I had to laugh when I saw people in scarves, gloves and winter coats.

Theo played on the balcony of the apartment a lot.  He figured out how to open the door and went right out.

Theo’s first experience with girly stuff.  Lily put all of her precious items in her purse and when she wasn’t looking Theo found it and tried every thing on.  I'm keeping this picture for blackmail.

Theo and Lily sporting their new towels from Grandma Peggy.  An owl and a shark.  Super adorable!  Thank you Grandma Peggy!

We spent one day at the San Jose Children’s Discovery Museum.  It was so much fun!  Theo had a blast playing with everything.  He especially liked the water tables and playing in the ambulance and fire truck.

It was so much fun to go, but we always miss Paul so it was nice to come back (even though it was 60 and sunny in California and snowing in Grace).
