This Kid and Magazines

DSC01648

Every magazine in our house is missing the cover.  I try to blame Paul, but I know who it really is!  Theodore loves paper.  Magazines are the best because there are so many pages.  I just hope to get most of the paper out of his mouth before he swallows!

I wanna be a runner week 1 and 2

Week 1-I was so pumped and ready to run! Hahaha.  This week consisted of a five minute warm up speed walk and then alternating between sixty seconds of jogging and ninety seconds of walking for a total of twenty minutes.  The first day I had a route planned out.  I finished the routine about a mile from home.  Let me tell you how NOT fun it is to walk a mile home after you run.  I am definitely out of shape in the running department.  There was a side ache for a day and a half and shin splints.  The next time I ran I went ten minutes and turned around so I would end up closer to home.  By the third time running, I felt pretty good.  I have to say it was due to running completely on side walks and nicely paved roads and also running at 4,000 feet in Twin Falls instead of 6,000 feet.  Who knew elevation makes such a huge impact?

Week 2-This week consisted of running for ninety seconds and then walking for two minutes alternating for 20 minutes.  All I can say about week 2 is that I did it.  I ran a little bit farther each day and found asparagus growing by the canal.  I don’t run very fast.  I have been really sore.  Maybe gardening, pulling weeds and running in the same day don’t compliment each other.

My goal for week 3 is to be less sore.  I am drinking more water and decided to do Pilates on the days I don’t run to help me stretch out.  Wish me luck!

I’m Gonna Do It

What?  A 5k.

I am not a runner.  So why do I want to run?  I think it is more for the challenge of doing something that I can’t do/am not very good at.  Two summers ago, my sister and I decided to run a 5k.  We prepared all summer just to find out the 5k we were going to run was a different day than we thought.  No worries.  I still felt successful because I went from not being able to run a block to running three miles in a three months.  Then it was winter and then I was pregnant and now it’s not winter and I am not pregnant, so I am going to run a 5k and make the race this time!

It really helped to have the motivation of running with someone the last time I did this.  Don’t believe me?  It has taken me over a month to motivate myself to print out the workout.  I am going to use my blog as motivation to run and keep on track (haha-no pun intended).  I am following the Couch to 5K workout schedule.  It is only three days a week and doable.  I know!  If you are inspired to join in, let me know.

Now if the weather would cooperate for the next few months.

What’s my deal?

I have been horrible at blogging.  I don’t know why.  I have things to blog about, but I can’t seem to get the things from my head to my computer.  It took me a month and a half to upload pictures from my camera to the computer.  I hope to be better at this.  We’ll see.

The biggest deal at our house is Theodore.  Everything pretty much revolves around him-his cuteness, his two teeth, his giggles, his army crawls, his rolls, his eating, his sleeping.  Everything.

Paul is a big deal too. He turned 30. 30 candles are a fire hazard. We went on a little hike and ate hot dogs cooked over the fire to celebrate.

I don’t know what my deal is, so here are some pictures to look at instead!
